After leaving the oil shop, the couple decided to open their own oil shop. They rented a small house on Linyi Street, which was close to the East Gate. In addition, they also bought a telephone, which was an unaffordable commodity by the majority."What do I name the new shop?" Yang asked himself. Since he had started off at HengTaiFeng, he decided to name the new shop "DinTaiFung", which served as a memory to his former boss and his wife.
Furthermore, Yang obtained the penmanship skills of the famous calligrapher, Mr. Youren Yu, for the shop sign. This sign has hung at the entrance of DinTaiFung for more than 40 years. Yang found his uncle in Taiwan who helped him to settled in. His aunt introduced him to the owner of an oil shop called HengTaiFeng Oils and it was here he started work as a delivery man.Since it was his first time in Taiwan and he had come empty handed, Yang decided to make a name for himself and worked very hard. He delivered oil during the day and alcohol for the owner's brother at night.
Impressed with Yang's hard work, Mr. Wang, the owner of the oil shop, promoted him as the counterperson. Yang's new role did not only find him monitoring the account books, but also managing the inventory levels.
At the age of 28, Bingyi married Penmei Lai, his co-worker in HengTaiFeng Oils.
