During that time, the Kuoming Party army held a series of investigations in search of possible Communist spies. Seeing many people being accused for espionage, Yang became worried that he might be falsely accused and panicked. Therefore, under the pretext of studying in Taiwan, Yang left the army and hoped to relocate himself to Taiwan, where he could receive support from another uncle. At that time, Yang was only 21 years old.

After departing from his hometown, Yang received much help from his relatives and friends. He first went to Beijing and then to Tianjin. After that, Yang moved again to Qingdao, where his uncle provided him with a ferry ticket from Shanghai to Taiwan.
In the summer of 1948, Yang finally landed in Taiwan's Keelung Harbor.

Bingyi Yang was a young man from Shanxi.
Before he came to Taiwan, he was broke. When he first arrived in Taiwan, he delivered oil for a living. His endless efforts and perchance opportunities, Yang established DinTaiFung and began selling steamed dumplings. Because of his warm hospitality towards customers and honest business practices, DinTaiFung rapidly became popular as time progressed.

Bingyi Yang, the founder of DingTaiFeng, was born in 1927 in Shanxi.
Yang had an uncle serving as a commander for the Kuoming Party army during the civil wars between the Kuoming Party and the Communist Party. Due to his uncle's influence within the military, Yang joined his uncle and worked as a military supplies officer.
